The Swedes are the world’s greatest axe enthusiasts, & Gränsfors Bruk is one of their finest forges.
Each axe is forged by an experienced smith who proudly stamps his initials on the head beside the
logo. Each smith is introduced in the booklet accompanying every Gränsfors Bruk axe. Blades are
ground to a 25° bevel & honed razor sharp. Axes have tight-grained hickory handles & include grain
leather sheath with snap fastener.

Traditional Right-Hand & Left-Hand Axes are made to be used on their respective sides
of the log*. These axe heads are bent & twisted at the forge, & beveled on only 1 side. The
axe’s eye & handle stand clear of the timber while a straight, easy swing lets the flat face of
the axe shave the surface like a huge plane. The Straight Broad Axe is more challenging to
use but considerably more versatile. The blade is in line with the eye, & both sides have beveled
edges. Use it to hew any side of a timber. On straight-grained wood it leaves surfaces nearly as clean as a right-
